EACH year, Spooky World attracts thousands of people both from Warrington and afar.

It is one of the biggest scare parks in the north with eight attractions on offer for 2025.

There are three different options, depending on the ‘scare level’ you are after.

Fun by Day is for those aged between four and 11 and it is in the form of a Halloween themed adventure farm.

Scary at Night is ‘not for the faint hearted’. It is for those aged 16 and over and ‘brave adults’.

While Spooky at Night is a toned-down version for those aged 10-15 plus.

So naturally, being brave and of course over the age of 16, we decided to head to the Scary at Night experience.

We arrived shortly after 6.30pm which is when it opened and much to our delight, there were no queues. And this applied for much of the evening. Although it certainly got busier as the night went on.

Since we went as teenagers, Spooky World has kept a number of its classics such as the Haunted Hayride which takes you on a tractor ride through the woods. It wasn’t as scary as we remembered, but who doesn’t love a tractor ride.

Other scare attractions included Deadman’s Creek – which was one of our favourites, but no spoilers here – Slaughterhouse, Evil Carnevil and The Institute.

There is also the Field of Screams which is an outdoor experience which only adds to the spookiness.

And Channel Zero is there this year – a concept which is a ‘first for the UK’. It is designed by one of the UK’s top scare maze designers and it incorporates fright vision technology which captures videos of guests being scared throughout the attraction. For us, this wasn’t the scariest experience, but it was still enjoyable, and it was also fun to watch our reactions back – with some of the group certainly being jump scared more than others.

We agreed that the whole experience didn’t seem as scary as what we remembered – but admittedly this could be as we are no longer in our teens. Despite this, it is still a great night out that is on our doorstep.

The attraction designs and costumes were brilliant, with no stone left unturned. And the actors were also great, with very convincing performances.

Scary at Night runs until November 2.
